Yield Point
The point at which there is a large increase in extension when the elastic limit is increased beyond the stress
Metals, particularly mild steel, generally have a very well defined yield stress compared to other materials.
Only certain metals exhibit a yield point.
If there is a decrease in stress after yielding, a distinction may be made between upper and lower yield points.
