Vehicle Aerodynamic Drag

Resistance of a vehicle body to motion through the air.

The force on an object due to aerodynamic drag can be calculated using:

Where

F = aerodynamic drag force [N]
Cd = drag coefficient
A = frontal area [m2]
ρ = density of fluid [kgm-3] = 1.225 kgm-3 air
v = velocity of object relative to fluid [ms-1] = velocity [km/h] / 3.6

Note: in the calculator below we have done the conversion from km/h to ms-1 for you.
