Power Stroke
The working stroke of a piston.
- As the piston approaches top dead centre the fuel-air mix is ignited.
- The fuel-air mix ignites and expands, as it expands it forces the piston down.
- As the piston is forced down this force is applied through the conrod to the crank and is transformed into a rotation of the crank.
- The combustion and expansion is complete at the end of the Power Stroke, at bottom dead centre.
