Phase Velocity

where: v_p = phase velocity [ms^-1]; ω = angular frequency [rads^-1]; k = wavenumber [m^-1]; f = frequency [Hz]; λ = wavelength [m]

In both dispersive and non-dispersive media the wave velocity for sinusoidal waves of a particular frequency is termed the phase velocity.
