Left Hand Rule

The procedure for finding electron-flow direction in a wire by grasping it so the fingers point in the direction of the magnetic lines of force. The thumb now points to electron-flow direction. For a single-layer inductor, the thumb indicates the north-pole end of the coil when the fingers point in the direction of electron flow. For conventional current flow, the right-hand rule is used.
