Flutter Echo

A repetitive echo set up by parallel reflecting surfaces. This can result in a perception of a pitch or timbre colouration of music and a reduction in the speech intelligibility within the room.

Sound absorption material on the walls or ceiling can be used to absorb some of the sound energy at each reflection. Alternatively, sound diffusers can be used to scatter or redirect sound waves.
