Fatty Acid

Carboxylic acids with long hydrocarbon side chains.

Found in fats, oils, membrane phospholipids and glycolipids.

Most natural fatty acids have hydrocarbon chains that don′t branch; any double bonds occuring in the chain are cis isomers.
