Exhaust Tailpipe

The final pipe that the exhaust gas passes through before mixing with the atmosphere. There are a number of issues that must be taken into account:

Exhaust tailpipe noise is normally measured a diatance of 0.5m from the centre of the orifice and at an outboard angle of 45°. Note that the microphone is set at a height equal to the height of the tailpipe from the ground plane.
