Dynamic Vibration Absorber

A dynamic vibration absorber is an auxiliary mass-spring system which tends to neutralise vibration of a structure to which it is attached. The basic principle of operation is vibration out-of-phase with the vibration of such structure, thereby applying counteracting force. An absorber is only effective at its natural frequency which must be tuned to coincide with the forcing frequency.
