Calorimeter
An insulated vessel for measuring the amount of heat absorbed or released by a chemical or physical change, originally a device that measured heat energy deposited, thus a calorie-meter.
In particle physics, any device that can measure the energy deposited in it by particles.
In optics, an instrument which measures the energy, usually as heat generated by absorption of the laser beam.
